Classrooms to Communities

For another year, C2C brought its mission to life, bringing educators together for two days of learning, connection, and inspiration. Hosting the 2026 conference in Lheidli T’enneh Keyoh, Prince George, made this gathering more accessible to educators in the region and created meaningful opportunities to connect with local land, communities, and Indigenous knowledge.

Participants celebrated the variety of workshops, welcoming presenters, and hands-on field experiences. From nature journaling and plant identification to canoeing and learning alongside Indigenous educators and Elders, the conference offered practical ideas educators could bring into their teaching right away. The opening panel’s stories also left a lasting impression, reminding participants of the importance of inclusion and not giving up on learners.

Beyond the sessions, the gathering offered something equally valuable: a sense of belonging. Educators appreciated meeting others who are finding creative ways to take learning beyond the classroom, sharing challenges and discovering new possibilities together. As one participant shared, “I feel so much more hopeful.”

Participants left with new connections, renewed energy, and a reminder that meaningful place and land-based learning can begin with simple steps and that they have a community to learn alongside.
